latest patchwork bag

My most recent design is based on a square for the base with 4 rectangles coming off the square base. Cut lining and wadding to match and sew up each corner to make an elongated cube shape. Put casings and elastic at each side to gather the sides slightly and stick handles on. photo328photo326photo327My JITTERBUG is now £9 inc postage if anyone wants any give me a ring on 07940 895358 and I can let you know what colours I have left.
Sorry I haven’t updated my shop but this way will work if you need more wool. Cheers,Janet x

My latest bag

Hello, I thought I’d show you my latest bag but it’s not for sale. I’ve had a partly-woven landscape tucked away for years and I decided to get it out and finish it. I tacked the weaving onto calico and finished it off by embroidering the gaps. Then I wondered what to do with it. Well yesterday I made it into a shopping bag using a cut-off of brown upholstery leather.photo283

The leather was cut into 2 pieces and one half  I then cut, into 2 inch strips and used it for log cabin patchwork to frame the textiles. Close to the textiles is leather which frames the textiles, then the next layer, I used the suede side and the handles are suede, the back is leather.photo282photo285These are close-ups of the textiles.photo289photo292photo290 These pics were taken with my phone so some are not brilliant but it gives you the idea.

If you have a piece of textile work and you don’t want to hang it as a picture on your wall them why not make it into a bag?  It’s also a great way to show off your work.photo291 Your art work is then turned into something useful, hard wearing and unique.
By the way- I have no bags left for sale at the moment but hope to make some more over the weekend. I still have LOADS of JITTERBUG so give me a ring and I’ll stick it into the post. I’m busy knitting boot socks for my husband as a little Christmas pressy. I will show you them when they’re finished. xx

POSTAGE COSTS

Postage in the UK on my goods is FREE but of course I will have to charge for recorded postage abroad. I was selling wool all around the world last year and it only took a couple of people with big orders to say they had not received it and the refunds negated my small profits. Any goods going abroad have to go recorded delivery. So if you click to buy I and you live in America or New Zealand I will let you know the postage costs before I send it.x
