My latest bag
November 26th, 2009
Hello, I thought I’d show you my latest bag but it’s not for sale. I’ve had a partly-woven landscape tucked away for years and I decided to get it out and finish it. I tacked the weaving onto calico and finished it off by embroidering the gaps. Then I wondered what to do with it. Well yesterday I made it into a shopping bag using a cut-off of brown upholstery leather.
The leather was cut into 2 pieces and one half I then cut, into 2 inch strips and used it for log cabin patchwork to frame the textiles. Close to the textiles is leather which frames the textiles, then the next layer, I used the suede side and the handles are suede, the back is leather.
These are close-ups of the textiles.

These pics were taken with my phone so some are not brilliant but it gives you the idea.
If you have a piece of textile work and you don’t want to hang it as a picture on your wall them why not make it into a bag? It’s also a great way to show off your work.
Your art work is then turned into something useful, hard wearing and unique.
By the way- I have no bags left for sale at the moment but hope to make some more over the weekend. I still have LOADS of JITTERBUG so give me a ring and I’ll stick it into the post. I’m busy knitting boot socks for my husband as a little Christmas pressy. I will show you them when they’re finished. xx
